Weight Loss Cleanse in 6 Steps

May 14th, 2010

A weight loss cleanse can be more effective than following a calorie counting diet. In fact, cleansing can help you clear out built up toxins that may be stored in and around fat cells while at the same time helping you to reset your metabolism. Also, you can learn what foods make you sick and tired and which foods give you energy.

Following a weight loss cleanse can be easy when you keep things simple. Don’t waste time counting calories or analyzing sodium grams. By incorporating some simple steps you will no longer have to live by labels. You can also learn how eating healthy will give you the energy and metabolism needed to keep the weight off once and for all.

Step 1 - Quit all junk food. We all know what they are; chips, sodas, fat food (I mean fast food), candies and so on. Junk foods not only add weight, but eating them can literally stop your body from losing weight! They may also contain chemicals such as preservatives or dyes that can be stored in fatty areas of the body causing you to hold on to weight and they can even interfere with thyroid function.

Step 2 - Avoid any processed foods. These include packaged or pre-made foods that are supposed to save time in the kitchen. Give yourself a reality check and see if this is true. One example is, you can spend 1/2 hour chopping up a head of lettuce and some veggies and keep them in the fridge. When it’s time to eat, you simply reach in and grab a handful. This is quicker than opening and heating up a can of pre-made soup. If you really do want a food like this, find the equivalent of it at your local health food store. Look at the ingredients and be sure there are not too many listed - the more ingredients a food has, the more processed and unhealthy it is. Your weight loss cleanse will be more effective without them.

Step 3 - Eat mainly whole, fresh foods, especially fruits and vegetables. Also eat proteins such as chicken or fish, without preservatives or processing. Then add 1/2 serving of whole grains to your meal such as wild rice. Fill your plate before you eat, with 1/2 to 3/4 full of vegetables. Keep protein the size of your palm. Any of these foods should not have labels, as they are in their natural state. If you add sauces, use only a minimal amount and try to use organic if possible. Drink only fresh, spring water and herbal teas.

Step 4 - Take fiber supplements twice a day such as psyllium or crushed flax seeds. Fiber supplements add bulk to help your body remove excess waste. They also absorb toxins from the intestinal tract. Also, taking your fiber 10-15 minutes before meals may help you feel fuller, sooner.

Step 5 - During your weight loss cleanse, supplement your nutrition by adding whole food supplements to your daily regimen. This should include a whole food vitamin so you are sure to get all your vitamins and minerals. Using a product that is made from “whole foods” as opposed to the synthetic version will ensure your body uses most of the nutrients without causing toxic side-effects. Also take EFA’s or Essential Fatty Acids. This supplement supplies oils that your body needs to keep joints mobile, skin and hair healthy, balance your hormones, are necessary for proper brain function for healthy moods - and they help you lose weight!

Step 6 - Incorporate daily exercise utilizing the circuit training effect. Circuit training burns more fat and calories and breaks up your routine to make exercise more effective. Exercise raises metabolism, boosts your mood, stimulates circulation and can help your body clear excess waste and weight.

Try circuit training at home by alternating aerobic type exercise with resistance exercise. You can do this without special equipment, if you choose. Put on some music to help set the tone and choose resistance exercise you want to do which may include push-ups, squats and lunges. Choose four to six exercises with a goal of performing three sets of each. Do a set of resistance exercise (say 12 squats) followed by one minute of aerobic exercise. You can jump rope, use an exercise bike if you have one, or even use a rebounder. Follow this by another set of resistance and then another minute of aerobics. Continue this way until you exercise for a total of 30-40 minutes.

Write out these six steps and post them where you will read them every day. Don’t eat in restaurants for now and instead, collect recipes for whole foods. You can find many free ones on the net! Use a weight loss cleanse so you can be summer-ready with a healthier body and mind.
