Your Stretch Mark Remover Options

May 31st, 2009

Most women who have been pregnant and given birth to a child will experience stretch marks at some point. This is caused by the rapid gain in weight and the stretching of the skin in the stomach area. People who have lost a lot of weight will also experience stretch marks as well. This has caused many people to look for the stretch mark remover that will work well for them.

Stretch marks develop on the skin for a number of different reasons, some of them being weight gain, weight loss and pregnancy. The dermis, which is the middle layer of the skin, is affected by the stretching of the skin in all the above cases and stretch marks occur in this layer. Starting as red or purple marks, stretch marks change color over time to become white or silver streaks. Stretch mark removers are a welcome solution to these marks that are likely to appear on many parts of the body including the stomach, hips, breasts, lower back and upper arms.

Using Lasers For Stretch Mark Removal

Lasers are a very convenient and effective way to remove the stretch marks on the body. The laser is used to remove the layer of skin that is affected by the marks. The laser will also help to encourage new skin cells in growing. This is a very safe way to remove the stretch marks from your body, but there is a degree of pain involved in the process.

Surgery

Surgery is another way that some people choose to remove the stretch marks on their body. It is an expensive process and is handled like many other cosmetic procedures. The patient is under anesthesia while the skin that is scarred is removed. There is a great deal of expense and recovery involved in this method of removing stretch marks.

Other Options

There are other things that you can try as a stretch mark remover. Some doctors will recommend chemical peels, microdermabrasion and blue light therapy for your stretch marks. These are a good option for those who are not interested in having surgery for their stretch marks. They can also cause some pain for those who are using them as a treatment for stretch marks. It is not certain how effective these stretch mark remover methods actually are.

Topical Creams And Lotions For Your Stretch Marks

Lotions and creams are another way that people will try and remove the stretch marks on the body. They are not as effective in removing the marks as some of the other methods. This is because the middle layer of skin is where the damage has occurred. You should take into consideration how effective the product will be before you spend a great deal of money on these products. A healthy diet and drinking plenty of water is a good way to stop the stretch marks from happening in the first place. It is a difficult task to find an effective stretch mark remover. The only choices that you have to completely eliminate the marks are lasers and surgery. They can be an expensive option so they might not be the answer that everyone will be able to use.
