For those who have done proper research on what asthma is they know that asthma has no cure because it is a chronic disease. By chronic, it means long lasting and recurrent. But for asthma this is no cause for loss of hope. With proper attention, treatment, therapies and attitude, asthma can be pushed back to a point of almost total elimination; meaning it is there but its existence will be hardly noticeable.
Asthma sufferers usually live life on a day to day basis because asthma has so many triggers that you wont be able to tell when, where, or why you had an attack. In order to gain more control of these factors here are some of the things that might be able to help you out.
First you need to recognize your condition. For some people this is not an easy thing to do. Since the level of severity differs from one person to another, a lot of people will usually ignore the fact that they have asthma and rationalize that it may either be stress, fatigue, or flu but never asthma. Until time comes that it can no longer be ignored and associated with any other disorder that is. Ignoring the symptoms will lead to bigger problems in the future or in some cases the asthma is already so severe that more extreme measures need to be taken in order to deal with the problem. Make no mistake, asthma if left alone can be fatal.
Second would be determining your triggers. Determining your triggers will give you insight on what specific measures you need to take in order to avoid attacks. This is also easier said than done, as this may require avoidance of some foods, places, and total elimination of long term habits, like smoking for example. Once you know what triggers you need to avoid you will be able to make a decision on whether avoidance or extra precaution would solve your problem. Your determination and perseverance will be the key in order to succeed in this case.
Coordination: As what was mentioned earlier, every asthma condition differs from one person to another because the triggers for each person are different. This is why you will need to coordinate with you doctor in order to come to an effective solution. Coordination with your physician will give you a better insight on your condition and will allow you to proactively discuss on which treatments or therapies would work best for you.
Fourth would be healthy diet and exercise, both of these fall into the same category because of one benefit; health. Having the right amounts of nutrition and vitamins that your body needs will help you stave off other diseases that might aggravate your asthma (like colds or flu for example) and doing the exercise will strengthen your body and immune system against allergens and irritants that are present everywhere. Ask your doctor on what type of foods and exercises would benefit you. They will be able to give you a diet plan that you can easily follow and an exercise program fitted for your lifestyle.
Positive Thinking: this might not be a cure, but without positive thinking all your efforts will go to waste. By thinking negatively you will be blowing your condition out of proportion and pretty soon you will become too depressed thinking about it and making your situation worse. Being positive about your condition will make you more practical and rational about all the treatments and medications you are being given and will push you to make yourself better.
A lot of methods have been developed today claiming that asthma can be cured; some with clinical testing done and some without. But before you dive into any so called miracle cure try to do a proper research first and ask your physician about it. Asthma is incurable but total control is within reach. It is up you on how and when you want to achieve it.
