Acai Berry Diet: Why Scam Artists Make the Acai-Oprah Connection

The line between acai supplements and the acai berry diet as seen on Oprah continues to be blurred by scam artists. You may be researching acai berries right now, trying to decide if the available supplements are worth the money. The problem is that scam artists are looking to take advantage of people just like you. And they are using lies about celebrities and false claims from doctors in order to get you to buy their product.

What They’re Saying

First, you have to understand what some acai berry diet companies are claiming. Some will flat out say that Oprah has used their product and recommends it. Others may claim she recommends it through her guests such as Doctor Oz. There have been rumors that some actors, looking to shed weight quickly for roles, have used acai berry supplements as a standalone weight loss drug. In addition, some companies are touting their supplements as libido enhancers or anti-aging drugs. These companies will claim that Oprah or other celebrities completely back these ridiculous claims.

What Oprah Says

First and foremost, Oprah does not endorse any acai products. Period. Any company that makes that claim is already lying to you. But Oprah has tried to sever the connections that scammers have made, even resorting to lawsuits. The scam companies have been dropping left and right as the lawyers from Harpo take them on for misusing Oprah’s likeness. Oprah does believe the acai berry is a great fruit and has terrific potential, but she supports no individual companies.

Why All the Lies?

When it comes to acai, Oprah has already made it completely clear that she endorses no specific supplement or supplement company. Lawyers for Oprah’s company, Harpo, have begun pursuing sites that claim her endorsement and Oprah even made a public statement that she endorses no acai supplements.

You must avoid any company claiming that Oprah or any other celebrity backs their product. Companies claiming ridiculous weight loss or other benefits that sound too good to be true are likely scams as well. The acai berry is a super fruit, but not a miracle fruit. Although she does not argue the potential of acai, Oprah does not officially endorse any acai berry diet programs.
